Non-GMO Food - Organic fundraiser Dear Friends,
As part of our campaign to educate on eating non-GMO foods, we are doing a fantastic fundraiser. I'm actually really excited about this because it will help raise some funds AND get fresh picked, organic fruits and veggies into the homes of our families at an affordable price.
At this point it is just available for California (both Northern and Southern) but check your zip code on their site to see if they have delivery in your area. We had looked to team up with another CSA but the pricing here is better and home delivery is a huge plus.
They deliver a box of fruits and veggies (all organic) to your home. You can choose how often they deliver. (every week, every other or every month). They also have many different price points and selections available for you to choose from. The other great thing is that if you have certain allergies or dislike certain things, you can let them know and they will replace that with something else. (like I think Kale is gross).
The prices are extremely reasonable, possibly better than the market. The produce is fresher and they guarantee satisfaction. We are so unhappy with the mold issue going on at our local markets that I needed to find some sort of solution for us. It's also going to be a great challenge to see if we can eat all of the produce before the next box comes. It will only HELP the health of our family and maybe trim my waistline while we're at it.
In order for them to make a donation to the LIA Foundation, you must enter in PROMO CODE # 1786 when you sign up. Please don't forget that part. The website is: www.farmfreshtoyou.com
If at all possible, please send to friends and family. This is an ongoing fundraiser but we want to make it as successful as possible. What could be better, getting to eat organic fruits and veggies and help the LIA Foundation at the same time.
Thank you so much for your support.
Sincerely,
Tami Duncan

If you plan to go get good pastries, cookies, I hear they are excellent. Apparently they also make gluten free breads, pastries, cookies, buns, cakes etc. by special order a day in advance.
I believe Goodwin's in Riverside the market carries their items as well..
**Desert Friends of the Developmentally Disabled (DFDD) has created a dental program that will benefit all developmentally disabled adults in the Coachella Valley.
We are extremely pleased to announce Dr. Ellie Kheirkhahi-Love, D.D.S., M.S.D. of the Advanced Periodontics Implant Center in Rancho Mirage has recruited a group of local dentists who have graciously agreed to give of their time to do pro bono work for our special needs citizens. They will x-ray, evaluate and treat at no cost to the patient. We have created the administration needed to manage this wonderful opportunity and have a system available. DFDD will raise money in our communities to provide supplies, insurance and anything else that is required. We are committed to making sure our citizens with special needs get the proper dental care they need. Please call DFDD at 760-832-6555 or email DFDDNOW@me.com for details. Prior to being seen by the dentist, a medical history form will have to be filled out, and this form can be obtained from Marianne. All appointments will be on Saturdays. There will be no cost to the client.

**Attention Kaiser Families requiring speech and ABA/behavioral therapy services
Allegation that health plan systematically breached its health plan contract by categorically denying coverage for behavioral therapy and speech therapy to plan members with autism spectrum disorders, even though those services were contractually covered, was sufficient to state a class action claim under the Unfair Competition Law. Allegation that health plan engaged in unlawful conduct under the UCL by denying coverage for diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders under the same terms and conditions applied to other medical conditions, in violation of the Mental Health Parity Act, stated class action claim. Such services are health care services within the meaning of the act, and defendant's contention that such services may be provided by unlicensed persons and are thus exempt from the act as custodial care was appropriate for resolution in class action.
Trial court abused its discretion in applying the doctrine of judicial abstention to UCL claim for violation of health plan contract and Mental Health Parity Act. Resolution of such a claim would not call upon the court to engage in individualized determinations of medical necessity for each putative class member but rather to perform the basic judicial functions of contractual and statutory interpretation.
Arce v. Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. - filed January 27,
2010, Second District, Div. Seven
Scott Glovsky (the attorney who is working the Arce vs Kaiser class action lawsuit) is looking for parents with denial letters from Kaiser for treating their children's autism. The more denial letters Scott has, the more he can show that Kaiser is refusing to provide necessary services to a class of people (with autism). If you know of parents with denial letters who would feel comfortable sharing them with Scott's office, here is the contact info. The letters can be scanned and emailed, faxed or mailed.
